The MI990 Mini-ITX motherboard is based on Intel®'s new 6th Generation Intel® Core™ processor family (codenamed Skylake), manufactured on a 14nm fabrication process. It delivers accelerated processing performance and superior graphics capability to drive three independent displays simultaneously with sharp, crisp visuals without a discrete graphics card. With exceptional features like up to 32GB of fast DDR4 DRAM RAM (memory) in two SO-DIMM sockets, it is designed for high-end applications in the industrial automation, kiosk, digital signage, medical, and gaming markets.

MI990 integrates Intel® CM236/HM170 chipset to provide performance and accommodate current I/O technologies for fast connectivity, including 4x USB 2.0, 6x USB 3.0, 6x Serial Ports and flexible Expansion with 2x/4x SATA III and 1x PCI E(x).

There are four MI990 models in the MI990VF and MI990EF series, supporting Intel® CM236 and HM170 chipsets respectively. The list of four integrated processors includes Intel® Xeon E3-1505M v5, Intel® Core i7-6820EQ, Intel® Core i5-6440EQ, and Intel® Core i3-6100E.
